Round 1 — The Hall

The same sign since 1929.

Kids from Dublin 7 walk in shy on a Monday. They learn to skip, learn to move, learn to hold their hands up — and somewhere along the way they stop being shy.

That's the job. Boxing is how we do it. Structured sessions, qualified coaches, and a hall full of photographs of the kids who came before — some of them are the coaches now.

Nobody is thrown in a ring. Beginners start with footwork, pads and fitness; sparring is earned later, in headgear, under a coach's eye. Some members never compete at all, and that's fine too.

The record
